As producers examine the impacts and opportunities a changing climate will create for their operations, many of the system and technological changes made on their farms in response will be influenced by provincial and federal agriculture funding programs and by new products developed by forward-thinking entrepreneurs and businesses. Farming practices continually undergo an evolution of equipment, crop management, chemical input selection and livestock nutrient management. These changes ensure economic competitiveness in global markets and increase producer efficiency. Many modern agricultural strategies in place now are also climate-friendly.

Federal and provincial programs have increased the uptake of these techniques by producers and have provided research funding to support the continued development of lower-emission technologies. Additionally, entrepreneurs across the prairie provinces have developed a range of technologies to reduce operation emissions and increase efficiency.
