Bruce Sampson
» Board memberBruce is an alumnus of the University of Victoria where he received his bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1976. He also completed a graduate diploma program in mathematical economics at the University of Essex in England in 1979.
Bruce spent many years in various positions with the Provincial Government, ultimately heading the Provincial Treasury Division at the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Relations, where he oversaw a $30 billion debt portfolio and was responsible for an annual debt financing program in excess of $4 billion.
Bruce has been with BC Hydro since 1997 when he joined as Director, Strategic Issues and Planning, and is currently the Vice-President of Sustainability seconded to the Provincial Government until May 15, 2007, to assist in development of the province’s new energy plan. Bruce has had extensive involvement in developing BC Hydro’s long-term strategy and goals, with specific emphasis on ensuring sustainability is incorporated into the long-term goals, strategies and objectives. Bruce also has a strong external focus and sits on a wide range of boards and committees.
