Jane Barr is an Associate in the Measurement and Assessment program and a freelance environmental consultant. She joined IISD in late 2006. Between 1995 and 2001, Jane was a project coordinator at the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), the tri-national organization created to oversee the environmental side accord to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). She coordinated the production of the North American Mosaic, the CEC’s first State of the Environment (SOE) report. Later, she honed her skills in SOE reporting by contributing to UNEP’s Global Environment Outlook (GEO) and more recently, to UNEP’s Atlases of Our Changing Environment. Since joining IISD, Jane has worked on a number of projects, including a review of international assessments (including GEO-4 and the IPPC’s 4th assessment); two reports related to Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (SARD); case studies illustrating Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in transboundary watersheds; and an assessment of agri-environmental performance in Canada’s beef sector.
