Leslie Paas brings to IISD significant expertise in the use of information and communications technologies and the use of new media to promote knowledge building and sustainable development. She first worked with IISD in 1998 as an intern and subsequently as a digital editor for IISD's Earth Negotiations Bulletin. More recently, Dr. Paas has been a consultant on several evaluation projects. She is currently collaborating on the development of online learning programs. Leslie is based in Florianopolis, Brazil, but retains strong roots in her home province of Manitoba.

Education

Doctor of Engineering in Production and Systems (2004): Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.
Master of Engineering in Production and Systems (1999): Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.
Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Latin American Studies (1997): Simon Fraser University.

Leslie’s post-graduate work in Brazil focussed on knowledge technologies and instructional design for the information society. Her master’s dissertation explored collaborative technologies for leveraging organizational learning, and her doctoral thesis centred on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
