Priya Shyamsundar is an economist and social entrepreneur with extensive experience in the field of environment and development economics. She was Founder and Executive Director of SANDEE, a regional network with a mandate to examine and identify solutions to South Asia’s shared environment-development challenges. SANDEE has supported over 100 research projects on the economics of climate change, ecosystem services, poverty and natural resources and pollution management. Priya has also been a consultant to the World Bank, Senior Program Officer at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Visiting Assistant Professor at Duke University and Research Associate at the Institute of Social Studies Trust. She has served on advisory committees associated with the Government of India, the World Bank and the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program. Her research publications cover multiple environmental areas, including forests, climate change and biodiversity conservation. Priya has a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from Duke University.
