Damon Vis-Dunbar

Director of Communications

Damon Vis-Dunbar has spent the last 8 years working in the field of sustainable development. A former journalist, he has a keen interest in making complex policy issues accessible to decision makers and the broader public. Damon has written and published frequently on economic policies and sustainable development. He has been deeply involved in the International Institute for Sustainable Development’s Global Subsidies Initiative from its inception. He has advised numerous governments on their reform plans, and has managed research programs on fossil-fuel subsidies in Indonesia, India and Bangladesh. He has also conducted numerous training programs with civil society organizations and journalists around the world on environmentally harmful subsidies and sustainable energy systems. Prior to IISD, Damon worked as a researcher, writer and editor for the European Commission and the International Center for Trade and Sustainable Development on issues related to international trade and investment. Damon was born in Canada and now lives in Switzerland.
