Alec Crawford


Since joining IISD in 2004, Alec Crawford's work has focused on examining the links among environmental change, natural resources, conflict and peacebuilding.

His most recent work with IISD has involved research and training on both conflict-sensitive conservation in East, West and Central Africa and on greening UN peacekeeping operations, as well as field research on the links between climate change and the risk of violent conflict in the Middle East and Africa.

Alec is also an associate of the Environmental Cooperation for Peacebuilding team of the United Nations Environment Programme, where he works on post-conflict natural resource management. Prior to joining IISD in 2004, he worked as a financial analyst for a Toronto-based technology firm.
