Anders Gonçalves da Silva, Ph.D.


Anders Gonçalves da Silva was born in Switzerland, from Brazilian and Australian parents. He spent most of his childhood in Brazil, with short periods of time spend in Australia. He has a degree in Biology from the State University of Campinas, in Brazil, and has a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He is primarily interested in the effects of space on the distribution of genetic variation in mammalian species, and how this information can be used to better conserve these species and their landscapes. Beyond this, he has worked as a coordinator for the Genetics Committee of the IUCN/SSC Tapir Specialist Group and is training to be one of the population modelers for the Brazil Network of the IUCN/SSC Conservation and Breeding Specialist Group.
