Christine Austin

Christine Austin served as the Chair of the Friends of the United Nations throughout the development and implementation of the We the Peoples: 50 Communities Awards Program. She is the CEO of New Mass. Media, Inc., which publishes the Advocate Weekly newspapers, a group of six weekly newspapers serving the New England States. With her guidance, The Advocate founded the New England Artists, Festival and Showcase. In 1989, Christine initiated "Piece of the Pie", a restaurant promotion that resulted in a $400,000 annual increase in distribution to food banks in Massachusetts and Connecticut. She is Chair of First Night Hartford - a New Years Eve event which has won the Governor's Tourism Award and a national award for its Architectural Awareness program with school children.

In addition to her work with Friends of the United Nations, Christine Austin serves on the Board of Directors of the International Alliance of First Night Cities and is a member of the Social Ventures Network and Business for Social Responsibilty.
