General De Ejército José Gallardo Román

General De Ejército José Gallardo Román is the Minister of National Defence of Ecuador. He is a retired Army General, Commander in Chief of the Army, Sub-Director of the Military Academy and a highly decorated soldier. He also teaches courses in Andean history as part of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences.

José Gallardo Román has been instrumental in the conversion of Ecuadorian industry from military to non-military purposes. He has been Vice President and President of the National Development Bank of Ecuador, Agricultural Minister and Executive Director of the Economic Reconvention Centre.
