Ashok Khosla

Ashok Khosla is President of the Society for Development Alternatives in New Delhi, India. In this capacity, he is responsible for the innovation, manufacturing and marketing operations of the Society, which are aimed at achieving widespread deployment of technologies and products for low income groups. He also manages the environmental systems operations of the Society.

Mr. Khosla is also President of the Society for Technology and Action for Rural Advancement (TARA) and President of the Communication Research and Action Foundation, both based in New Delhi. He is President of the Indian Environmental Congress Association (IECA) and served as Chair of the International Facilitating Committee (IFC) of the Independent Sectors for UNCED.

From 1976 through 1982, Mr. Khosla was Director of INFOTERRA at the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi, Kenya. Previous to that, he was Director of the Environment Division of the Department of Science and Technology in India, and a Lecturer on "Man, Resources and the Environment" at Harvard University.
