Marguerita Marino de Botero is Founder of The Green College, an independent institute dedicated to environmental learning and practice, located in Santa Fe de Bogota, Colombia. In addition to offering courses on social ecology and international environmental policy, The Green College has organized more than 50 international seminars and publishes a quarterly review called the Green Copybooks (Cuademos Verdes). The Green Center offers a program for training of popular leaders and peasants that focuses on agroecology, erosion control and resource management and produces and evaluates rural appropriate technology. The Green College also houses a tropical herbarium and a library on tropical ecology, resource management and environmental education.
In founding the Green College, Marguerita de Botero is working to promote a permanent exchange between modern scientific knowledge and traditional popular wisdom and to foster creative debate and learning on the present and future survival of life on earth.
