Brief Description
GROOTS, an international grassroots women's leadership development and networking organisation, came out of strategy sessions that were held during Forum'85 at the UN Conference for Women in Nairobi, Kenya. Today, GROOTS is comprised of women from autonomous grassroots organisations in 14 countries and eight regions with outreach within each country and region. It has effectively focused attention on the needs and capabilities of grassroots women and strengthened their participation in the development of their communities and their approaches to problem-solving.
