Brief Description

In the face of desperate odds, the multi-ethnic staff of Kosevo Hospital has struggled to save the wounded and to hold the community of Sarajevo together. They continue to treat the wounded and sick despite constant bombardment by attacking forces and the deaths of dozens of their colleagues. The Hospital has never refused treatment to any person, regardless of nationality, race or religious beliefs. Once a sophisticated medical facility, two buildings have been destroyed and the rest of the hospital operates without electricity, running water or gas. With few medical supplies, doctors and technicians have devised new treatments and medications which can be replicated in other war-torn communities.
