Brief Description
97% Afro-American, with many single parent households headed by women, Tillery is an unsurpassed example of grassroots coalition building. With scant resources and a core of volunteers, the Concerned Citizens of Tillery (CCT) has dramatically improved their educational, economic and social welfare. CCT conducts educational activities, participates in voter registration and education, promotes leadership development, provides assistance with transportation, health care and conducts workshops on issues such as health care, land ownership, debt control, and African-American culture.
