Brief Description
SIX S (Se Servir de la Saison Sèche en Savane et au Sahel) serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities for self-help activities. It bases its approach on the wisdom and tradition of Kombi-Naam, an ancient association in which all members are truly equal. For their elections there are four criteria: 1. language - any good responsible person should be able to make a convincing argument without haughtiness; 2. the heart - symbolizing two important elements that need to be mastered, love and anger; 3. the belly - representing altruism, a sharing of riches, food and ideas with others; 4. competence - to be able to perform the tasks confided in them. [Note: Did not participate in Study Conference in New York, 22-24 Sept. 1995]
