Brief Description
One of the first native communities in Canada to take leadership in the field of environment and sustainable development, Walpole Island has influenced not only its own members, but also the policies of the Province of Ontario. The Walpole Island First Nation has maintained their cultural heritage and traditional knowledge of the environment, while interacting effectively with the non-indigenous population and western environmental scientists to everyone's mutual benefit.
