Brief Description
A mining community of 22,000 people, the Barangay has instituted an alternate model to settle disputes based on traditional tribal methods interwoven with modern techniques of conflict resolution. A Council of Mediators is composed of elders from various tribes who undergo extensive training themselves and also train others in their methods. A leader in promoting peace and order, it is a model which is being replicated in other communities in the Philippines.
